Who is George Martin?

 

Long ago in a small English city far, far away there was a band called "The Beatles." At one point, a man who worked for a major record company in Great Britain found himself involved with helping make records for this band. The records sold, well. The band became better and better at the art of creating original music in the form of songs — many, hits songs! This man who was assigned to help them at that record company was a man more "at one" with classical music, not pop music. None the less, George Martin did his job and continued to help that band when it came to the process of making their recordings. The creativity side of things got a little wacky and a number of very innovative things were being recorded. The songs The Beatles were producing were under the recording studio direction of George Martin. He continued to produce their records, adding his ideas, literally to the final mix. Many of the songs recorded by this band were therefore flavored by the producing skill of the classically oriented musician, George Martin.

 

 

Therefore, we learn that a finished song becomes as much a result of the vision and input of the producer(s) which, like so many other parts of the process, can make a huge difference in the final commercial quality of a professional recording.
